RAWALPINDI: The City Traffic Police Rawalpindi on Friday issued a special traffic plan for the convenience of the public during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference to be held in the federal capital from October 14 to 16.
According to City Traffic Police Officer Benish Fatima, a total of 622 traffic officers and officials including 13 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 73 senior traffic wardens and 536 traffic wardens and assistants will perform traffic duties during the three days of the conference. . .
CTO Benish Fatima said in a statement that no traffic will be allowed from Chauhan Chowk towards Airport Road during the movement of dignitaries.
She further said that heavy traffic will not be allowed to enter the city during this time as per traffic diversion and sealing plan.
She said that the traffic going to Koral will be diverted from Chauhan Chowk to Rawal Road, Shaheen Chowk and Murree Road.
Similarly, the CTO said that the traffic from Jhanda Mor to Amar Chowk will be diverted to Scheme 3 or Kachari Chowk and the traffic from Amar Chowk to Chauhan Chowk will be diverted to Rahimabad via flyover.
She said that the traffic going from Annexe Chowk to Amar Chowk will be diverted through Jhanda Road (Jhanda Turn) Rashid Minhas Road.
Similarly, traffic going from Mushtaq Baig Shaheed Road to Airport Road will be diverted from Annexe Chowk to Kachhari Chowk and from Kachhari Chowk to Airport Road to Rashid Minhas Road to Murir Chowk.
CTO said that the traffic going from Mall Road to Kachhari Chowk will be diverted to Panj Sattar via Rashid Minhas Road, Shalimar Chowk via Sarwar Road.
She said that no heavy traffic will be allowed to get off the motorway.
The CTO said that there would be complete closure for heavy traffic and directed the owners and drivers to keep their heavy vehicles off the city roads.
She said that the traffic police give timely information to the district police about the movement of suspicious persons and vehicles.
She warned that legal action would be taken against vehicles and motorcycles with wrong number plates, while special vigil would be kept on vehicles with tinted glasses.
The CTO said that ambulances, fire brigade and other government vehicles would be specially checked to avoid any terrorist activities.
She said that an emergency portal was established for ambulances, fire brigade and other emergency vehicles on the occasion.
