ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa refused the official retirement dinner, which was to be held on October 25 at government expense.
In a letter to the Registrar’s Office regarding arrangements for the retirement dinner, which was to include judges, their families, and legal representatives, the Chief Justice stated that no dinner should be held in his honour, citing a cost of Rs2 million in public funds.
The Registrar’s Office had earlier announced that the full court reference will take place on October 25 with a farewell dinner organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association, which has been accepted by Chief Justice Isa.
It is customary to host a dinner in honour of retired Supreme Court judges or Chief Justices, but Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has chosen to abandon this tradition.
