LAHORE: The government of Punjab is going to introduce a personal number plate system for vehicles pending the approval of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
As per the details, Director General Excise of Punjab Faisal Farid has announced that the initiative will allow vehicle owners to customize their number plates in any of three categories.
The corporate category will enable companies to display their names on the plates. In the Platinum category, individuals can display their name or the name of a loved one, while the gold category will offer the option to add three preferred letters and three digits to the plate.
Vanity Number Plate scheme allows car owners to bid on unique plates through an online auction, reflecting the popularity of custom number plates as status symbols in the region. To participate in the auction, interested applicants must first register on the excise portal by providing their vehicle details, including ID Card Number, email, and contact information.
Upon registration, they will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) for verification, granting access to the E-Auction app. In the E-Auction section, participants can select their desired number plate and enter their vehicle’s chassis number. They will also receive details for tracking their application status.
Excise directed bidders to generate a Payment Slip with a nominal participation fee. After making payment and completing application, it will allow access to bidding once the auction starts.
