Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, concluded its session, according to private TV reports.
The Federal Cabinet has granted approval for the formation of an FBR Reforms Committee. The Finance Minister will head the FBR Reforms Committee, while members from the ministries of IT, Commerce, Law, Foreign Affairs, and Privatization will also serve on the committee.
Furthermore, the Federal Cabinet has given approval for the deployment of military and security forces for election duties. Rapid Response Teams will be assigned duty in sensitive areas during the elections.
Previously, the Ministry of Interior had prepared a summary outlining the deployment of Pakistan Army for electoral duties and sent it to the Federal Cabinet.
The Ministry of Interior had prepared a summary for the deployment of the army during the 2024 general elections. This summary was shared with the Federal Cabinet after the preparation of the security plan for general elections 2024.
The Election Commission had requested 277,000 military personnel, including personnel from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and FC, for deployment during the upcoming general elections.

It is important to note that the general elections are scheduled for February 8th, and the preparations have reached their final stages.
On another note, the Election Commission has frozen the funds of all municipal bodies. According to the Election Commission’s notification, developmental funds for municipal bodies have been frozen until the announcement of the election results.

The notification stated that during this period, local governments will only carry out routine sanitation and cleanliness matters.
