ISLAMABAD: Delegations from India, China, Russia and other nations have arrived in Pakistan for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in Islamabad.
Reports indicate that Indian delegation consists of four officials, while Russia has sent a 76-member team and China has a 15-member delegation.
Moreover, a 4-member delegation of Kyrgyzstan and a 2-member delegation of Iran have also reached Islamabad, while 7 representatives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have also reached Pakistan.
Pakistan is all set to host the two-day meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of Government in Islamabad on October 15 and 16.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will preside over the meeting. The members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be represented by the Prime Ministers of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the First Vice President of Iran and the Foreign Minister of India.
Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of China, will represent his country.
Prime Minister of Mongolia as Observer State and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan as Chief Guest will also attend the meeting.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) heads of government meeting will discuss ongoing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, environment and socio-cultural ties and review the organization’s performance.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, established on June 15, 2001, is a permanent intergovernmental international organization whose purpose is to strengthen cooperation in many fields, promote peace and security, and promote a new economic international system.
