RAWALPINDI: PTI founder Imran Khan’s physician, Dr Asim Hussain, arrived at Adiala Jail on Tuesday afternoon to conduct a medical examination, sources said.
As per sources, Dr Hussain arrived to examine the former Prime Minister but was not granted permission to enter the jail.
PTI officials said that Dr Hussain waited outside the jail premises for clearance to meet with Imran but he was denied to enter jail.
Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) postponed its October 15 D-Chowk protest after the government assured the well-being of the party founder and that he would receive a medical check-up.
Taking on X, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said, “On our request to the Federal Minister for Interior, we have assured the well-being of IK as well as a visit by a competent Doctor of PIMS today, therefore Protest on October 15, 2024, was called off after unanimous decision by the political committee.”
The party had previously threatened demonstrations during the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) of SCO meeting if the authorities failed to ensure proper medical care for the former premier.
