ISLAMABAD: The government has called meetings of the National Assembly and the Senate on October 17 for the approval of the proposed 26th constitutional amendment by both the houses of the Parliament.
The summary of convening the meeting of the two houses of the Parliament by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office.
After the approval of the President, the session of the National Assembly will begin at 4 pm, while the session of the Senate will begin at 3 pm.
Meanwhile, the final round of consultation among political parties regarding the 26th constitutional amendment has started, and the important meeting of the parliamentary special committee will be held tomorrow at 4 pm.
Chairman of the committee Syed Khurshid Shah will preside over the meeting of the parliamentary special committee in which the draft of the 26th constitutional amendment will be prepared, and the constitutional drafts of other political parties will be discussed.
Members of the National Assembly and Senate currently abroad, particularly from the Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, have been directed to return to Pakistan to ensure participation in parliamentary proceedings.
