ISLAMABAD: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Environment Department has finalized plans to ban new settlements and the use of plastic at tourist spots in the province. The initiative aims to address environmental concerns and protect areas sensitive to climate change.
Dr Habib, deputy director of the Environmental Protection Agency, confirmed that tourist destinations are facing increasing environmental threats, with pollution being a major factor. He revealed that the ban on plastic products will be implemented soon at these places.
Additionally, a proposal to charge a fee for vehicles entering these tourist areas is being considered. The revenue generated will be earmarked for efforts to reduce pollution and maintain environmental stability.
Dr. Habib also highlighted that the Environmental Protection Council chaired by the Chief Minister has prepared a comprehensive strategy to deal with these problems. The operation will be carried out in collaboration with the local district administration to ensure effective implementation of the new measures.
