ISLAMABAD: Many cities in Pakistan are witnessing toxic air that has led to many infections due to deteriorating air quality, forcing the government to consider school holidays.
To combat the worsening smog crisis, the government has considered artificial rain and is considering closing schools in the coming days as a precautionary measure.
The artificial rain initiative is said to have cost the national exchequer around Rs 3.5 billion, while authorities are also mulling the possibility of declaring holidays for students in schools to protect juniors from high pollution.
This multi-pronged approach aims to protect citizens and improve air quality in affected areas such as Punjab and the capital.
With the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching alarming levels, the capital of Punjab has been declared the worst air quality city in the world.
