DUBAI: Pakistanis are facing a massive rejection of UAE visas for employment amid new strict regulations put in place by the Gulf country, and now the Pakistani ambassador to the UAE has given an important update for the country’s people to understand the dilemma.
At a tech and startup show, the ambassador noted improvements in visa approvals but acknowledged that people from the South Asian nation still struggle to obtain the necessary documents.
Alarming figures shared by the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment show a sharp decline in registered Pakistani workers in the country.
It was found that a large number of Pakistanis used to travel to the UAE on tourist visas, and later seek employment on arrival. Currently, the UAE’s growing job market favors highly skilled workers over manual labour.
To deal with this, Pakistanis need to build their skills, especially in the IT sector, which is seen as a potential avenue for economic growth through the export of IT services.
