ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi) – The issue of appointing the new Chief Justice of Pakistan will be resolved in an important meeting of the special parliamentary committee tomorrow. This committee, comprising 12 members from both the government and the opposition, is set to make significant decisions regarding the leadership of the country’s higher judiciary.
The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow at 12 PM, where the first phase will involve the election of the committee’s chairman. Following that, the second phase will consist of a vote on three candidates for the Chief Justice position. The candidates under consideration are Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, and Justice Yahya Afridi.
The parliamentary committee includes prominent members such as Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, Farooq Naek, Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Shaista Pervez Malik, Azam Nadeem Tarar, Kamran Murtaza, Barrister Gohar, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Barrister Ali Zafar, and Farooq Sattar.
This appointment is viewed as a critical turning point for the leadership of the judiciary in the country, and the outcome of tomorrow’s meeting will determine the future direction of Pakistan’s legal system.
