ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken swift action to support Palestine and Lebanon, directing authorities to immediately dispatch two planeloads of relief goods to the regions.
Chairing a meeting to review relief efforts, he emphasized the need for improved coordination with Pakistan’s ambassadors in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt to ensure efficient aid delivery.
The prime minister stressed the importance of accelerating relief aid and ensuring it reaches those in need. He reiterated his appeal for generous donations to the PM Fund for Gaza and Lebanon, citing the account number IBAN: PK11SBPD000000111111429.
To raise awareness, he instructed authorities to launch a campaign informing the public about the government-established Relief Fund.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz was briefed on the relief activities, including the dispatch of essential items such as winter tents, clothing, blankets, medicine, and food to those affected by the Israeli conflict in Gaza and Lebanon.
However, it was noted that Israeli attacks and sieges were hindering the supply of relief goods to affected areas.
To bolster support, the government will also facilitate NGOs wishing to provide relief aid to Gaza and Lebanon. The meeting was attended by prominent figures, including Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Attaullah Tarar, as well as senior officers from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and National Disaster Management Authority(NDMA).
