ISLAMABAD: Several Indian airlines including Air India, Vistara, Akasa Air, and IndiGo faced as many as 70 bomb threats promoting swift action from authorities on October 24, Press Trust of India reported, quoting sources.
The London-bound Air India flight also received security alerts and it was traveling through Pakistani airspace at the time, which led the Ahmedabad air traffic controller to contact Karachi Air Traffic Control (ATC) for assistance in handling the alarming situation.
The air traffic controller in Karachi contacted the Air India flight pilot by radio communication. The pilot decided to continue the flight and remained in coordination with the ATC.
Pakistani authorities safely guided the Indian plane through Pakistani airspace. After leaving Pakistan, the plane continued its journey into Afghanistan’s airspace.
Air Indi official told local media that some Air India flights were subject to security threats received on social media on October 24, 2024. “Following the laid down protocols, relevant authorities were immediately alerted, and all security procedures were strictly adhered to, as per guidance from the regulatory authorities,” the official said.
