DERA ISMAIL KHAN: At least 10 soldiers of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) were martyred and three others injured in a terrorist attack on an FC checkpoint in Darazinda, Dera Ismail Khan, the Ministry of Interior spokesperson said.
According to the statement, the Khawarij terrorists executed an assault in the night which was successfully thwarted by FC soldiers. During the confrontation, ten FC soldiers were martyred and three others sustained injuries.
“The martyred soldiers thwarted the terrorists’ attack on the checkpoint by laying down their lives,” the spokesperson said.
The martyrs include Naib Subedar Muhammad Jan, Naik Arif, and Lance Naik Saeed-ur-Rehman. Sepoy Akhunzada, Hazratullah, Mushtaq, Abdul Samad, Imran, Basir, and Mehtab also embraced martyrdom.
Among them, six soldiers hailed from South Waziristan, while four were from the Karak district, the ministry spokesperson said.
Three FC personnel — Naik Hamza, Sepoy Hasan, and Sepoy Sabir Ayub — were injured during the exchange of fire and were swiftly transferred to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dera Ismail Khan for medical treatment. Their condition is currently stable, and they are receiving the necessary care, it added.
“We pay tribute to the martyrs of the FC,” the spokesperson stated, noting that these great sacrifices only serve to strengthen the forces’ determination to eradicate terrorism.
PM, President condemns attack
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan and paid tribute to the Frontier Constabulary personnel who embraced martyrdom.
The premier also expressed condolence over the martyrdom of two police officials in another terrorist attack in Bannu district.
He prayed to Allah Almighty for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks in paradise and conveyed his condolence to the bereaved families. “The entire nation salutes its martyrs. We are resolved to root out the terrorism from the country,” he remarked.
President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed condolence over the martyrdom of 10 FC personnel in Dera Ismail Khan. He strongly condemned the terror attack and paid tribute to the FC personnel who embraced martyrdom, the President House said in a press release.
Lauding the patriotism of the martyred soldiers, President Zardari conveyed his condolence to the bereaved families.
He prayed to Allah Almighty for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks in paradise and for strength for their families to bear the loss.
