PESHAWAR: Firefighters are still struggling to contain the fire that broke out on Saturday, October 26, in Peshawar’s Industrial area in Hayatabad, and efforts are still underway to bring it under control.
Firefighters from multiple cities, including Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Khyber, and Swabi, are battling the blaze, with over 100 personnel and 25 operational rescue vehicles, along with nine Pakistan Air Force (PAF) vehicles, deployed to combat the fire.
The fire has already caused part of the building to collapse, and the owners have permitted demolishing the entire section if necessary to prevent further spread.
Despite the ongoing efforts, only 80% of the blaze has been contained, and according to a spokesperson from the rescue operation, it may take another three to four hours to fully extinguish the fire.
The affected area is home to various industries, including pharmaceutical companies like Stanley Pharma, steel companies like FF Steel, and match factories like Khyber Match Factory.
The industrial estate also has a post office and other essential services. The situation is being closely monitored, and the law and order situation in Peshawar remains a concern, with reports of PTI supporters entering the Assembly.
The combined efforts of the firefighters and rescue teams are crucial in containing the fire and preventing further damage. The swift response and coordination among different agencies are commendable, and hopefully, the situation will be controlled soon.
