A complete shutterdown strike and protest demonstration were held by political and social organizations, along with the business community, in Tank against the transfer of district courts for Tank and South Waziristan to Dera Ismail Khan ontherday.
A protest rally was taken out from Town Hall Ground to Kashmir Chowk, where it evolved into a large gathering. The demonstration was attended by hundreds of people, including members of various political and social organizations and the business community.
During the protest, speeches were delivered by former MPA Ghulam Qadir Betni, PTI district president Farhan Hakeem, former assembly candidate Ramzan Shourie, social worker Nadeem “Awam Dost,” ANP district president Fazal Karim Tattoor, JUI’s Shams ul zaman Shams, Saraiki Ittihad President Mauz Arain, District Bar President Pir Abdul Ghaffar, Sher pao Mehsud Advocate, Ehsanullah Kundi, and other prominent leaders.
Concerns were raised by the speakers regarding the transfer of the Peshawar High Court and district courts of South Waziristan to Dera Ismail Khan, which was seen as an act of injustice against the people of Tank.
It was expressed that the residents of Tank would face difficulties attending court proceedings located hundreds of kilometers away, especially given the current inflationary conditions.
The security concerns, cited as the reason for the transfer, were questioned by the speakers, who noted that incidents involving judges had occurred within Dera Ismail Khan itself, not in Tank.
The claim was made that no significant security issues are present in Tank, as all administrative departments are reportedly operating without hindrance.
Demands were made by the speakers for the immediate reversal of the transfer decision by the Peshawar High Court.
It was stated that if the decision is not reversed by November 1, further steps will be taken, including the establishment of a protest camp in front of the Peshawar High Court.
