ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has accepted the student’s petition against the recently held MDCAT and directed the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZAMBU) to re-conduct the admission test within one month.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir accepted the petition challenging the exam, declaring the previous MDCAT null and void, and instructed the concerned university to conduct a new entrance test.
Several students filed the plea in Islamabad High Court arguing that the MDCAT paper contained questions that were out of the syllabus. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), in its report, also confirmed that several questions were outside the curriculum.
highlighted that 30 questions were outside the syllabus, Advocate Qazi Adil said that only three students in Islamabad scored above 190, while approximately 2,800 students from Punjab faced an uneven playing field.
Islamabad MDCAT re-conduct date
As the court ruled in favor of the students, it instructed the university to hold a re-examination within one month. SZAMBU has not yet confirmed the exact date of the exam but will be announced in the coming days.
Earlier, the Sindh High Court (SHC) also ordered the authorities to re-conduct the MDCAT across the province within four weeks.
