ISLAMABAD: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has sought an increase of Rs 64 per MMBtu in its average prescribed gas prices, from January 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra).
According to the petition filed in Ogra, SNGPL has projected a shortfall of Rs20,582 million during the current financial year 2024-25, which includes Rs489 million on account of the LPG AirMix project seeking an increase in its average prescribed price by Rs64.16 per MMBtu.
Furthermore, Sui Northern added that it has included the cost of Reversed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for domestic consumers, as part of the cost of gas in the light of ECC’s decision ratified by the federal cabinet on October 30, 2023.
The company has also requested to raise the supply cost of LNG for all categories of consumers to Rs. 1711.73 per MMBtu starting from July 1, 2024.
If the regulatory authority accepts the request of SNGPL, an increase in gas prices for domestic consumers is expected.
