ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has strongly condemned the recent attack on former Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa’s vehicle in London, labeling it “distressing.”
The incident occurred when PTI activists attempted to obstruct Justice Isa’s car, which belongs to the Pakistan High Commission, and even tried to smash its windows while chanting slogans against the former CJP.
Additionally, he blamed the Senior PTI leaders, including Zulfi Bukhari, Malika Bukhari, and Azhar Mashwani, for addressing party supporters protesting against the former Chief Justice at the Middle Temple on Tuesday night.
A vehicle belonging to the Pakistani High Commissioner in London was also targeted. Naqvi stated, “We cannot remain silent on this incident” and “No one will be permitted to engage in such attacks.”
Moreover, Naqvi has instructed the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to take immediate action to identify the assailants through available video footage.
He also directed that legal proceedings be initiated against the attackers, including filing FIRs in Pakistan. The minister emphasized that the attackers will face swift action regarding their citizenship, with cases sent to the cabinet for approval.
Measures will be taken to block the attackers’ identification cards and revoke their passports. Naqvi questioned why security was not provided to former Chief Justice Isa, who had reportedly faced threats.
This incident comes after Justice Isa completed his term on the Supreme Court bench and stepped down from his position last Thursday.
