KARACHI: For the first time in Pakistan, a decommissioned passenger plane is being transported via road from Karachi to Hyderabad, with the help of a ten-wheeler specialized truck and a 40-foot trailer.
A private transport company is transferring the Boeing 737 with 350 seats, classified as scrap, from Jinnah International Airport in Karachi to Civil Aviation Training Institute (CATI) in Hyderabad.
The aircraft, under the supervision of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCCA), was moved via the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway. The Airbus A310 was dismantled, with wings, engines, and wheels removed to facilitate smooth transfer.

As per the details, the decommissioned plane has a length of 110 feet and it weighs around 40 tons. The Motorway Police said that the plane was being moved as per the protocol and the motorway was not blocked during the transfer. The heavy transport vehicle carrying the plane was driven on the roadside.
The aircraft became non-functional and now after being transferred to Hyderabad, it will be used at the Civil Aviation Training Institute for training purposes and other emergency response exercises.
