Three children and a cop were among five killed in a blast in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Friday morning, police said.
Mastung District Police Officer (DPO) Miandad Umrani confirmed to Dawn.com: “Five people, including a policeman and three schoolchildren, were martyred in the blast.”
DPO Umrani added that 12 people, including four policemen, were injured in the incident.
He said the blast occurred near a police van at a chowk near the Civil Hospital and a girls’ school. According to the DPO, explosive material was fixed in a motorcycle and was detonated via “remote control”.
The deceased children were aged between five and 10 years, DPO Umrani further said.
Footage from the incident site showed policemen and other people gathered near a charred police van.
