ISLAMABAD: Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan to win the Hong Kong World Super Sixes tournament title on Sunday.
In the final of the event held in Mong Kok, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first. Two Pakistani players returned to the pavilion in the first over.
From Pakistan, only Muhammad Ikhlaq faced the Lincoln bowlers and scored 48 runs. Among other batsmen, captain Faheem Ashraf scored 13 runs, Aamir Yameen scored 6 runs, Asif Ali scored 0 runs and Hussain Talat scored only 1 run.
The entire team of green shirts was bundled out for 72 runs in the allotted 6 overs.
For Sri Lanka, Dhananjaya Lakshan and Thirandu Ratnayake took 2 wickets each.
In the chase, Sri Lanka started cautiously but managed to chase down the target of 73 runs with an over to spare and the loss of three wickets.
On behalf of Sri Lanka, Sandoon Werakudi scored 34 runs, Dhananjaya Lakshan scored 2 runs and captain Lahiro Madhushanka scored 19 runs. Faheem Ashraf took 2 wickets on behalf of Pakistan.
