LAHORE: At least three men died, while seven others suffered injuries when a vehicle returning from Tableeghi Jamaat gathering in Raiwind, overturned near Bhera Interchange on the M2 motorway on Sunday.
In another incident on Sunday, 29 persons returning from the same gathering suffered injuries when a speeding bus overturned near Raiwind Ijtima Puli No 2.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, in a Motorway accident, the vehicle bringing back people from the Raiwind congregation, mostly returning to Dir, overturned when one of its tyres burst.
The rescue team reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Bhera Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Sargodha district.
According to the hospital officials, the deceased were identified as Naik Muhammad (33), Sabir Shah, and Sultan (53), while the injured included Ashraf, Gul Salim Umar, Hidayat Allah, Abdul Wahab, Abdul Wahid, Noor Shah and Azam Khan.
In the second incident, at least 29 participants were injured returning from the Raiwind Ijtima, when a bus, carrying 70 people, fell into an open drain near Puli No 2.
According to the initial reports, the bus was on its way to Bhopatian Chowk when it met with an accident due to speeding.
Rescue 1122 officials shifted the injured persons to nearby hospitals including Raiwind Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and the Lahore General Hospital.
