WASHINGTON D.C: As the 2024 United States (US) election polls close, the whole world is eyeing whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris will claim victory in the historic presidential elections, amid the instability in the Middle East, which looms threat to the world security.
As the battle for the presidential seat between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris continues, Republicans won control of the U.S. Senate with victories in 51 seats, in comparison to Demcorat’s popularity in 42 states, ensuring that Donald Trump’s party will control at least one chamber of Congress next year.
In the House of Representatives, 218 magic numbers are mandatory to claim control. Republicans led the poll with 179 candidates in the House, while 150 Democrats managed to win.
For the President, the outcome remained uncertain in six other states expected to determine the winner. But Trump was showing strength across broad swaths of the country.
A candidate needs a total of at least 270 votes in the state-by-state Electoral College to claim the presidency.
He had won 230 Electoral College votes to Harris’ 210 as of 10:56 PST (5:19 GMT on Wednesday).
