GIGLIT: In a dramatic turn of events, Shigar police successfully recovered a 10-year-old boy named Kabir Ali, who was allegedly kidnapped by a family friend, Rehmanullah, over an unpaid debt.
The suspect, from Chilas, had spent the night at Kabir’s home before leaving with the boy under the pretext of taking him to the market. However, instead of going to the market, Rehmanullah took Kabir to Skardu and then to Chilas.
Kabir’s mother, a resident of Ghizer living in Hashupi, Shigar, reported the incident to the city police station, revealing that Rehmanullah had demanded repayment of the outstanding loan owed by the family in exchange for Kabir’s safe return.
The police swiftly registered a case at Shigar City Police Station and formed a special team to rescue Kabir.
Thanks to the collaboration with a local jirga, the police were able to retrieve Kabir and reunite him with his family, as confirmed by Muhammad Khan, mohair at the police station. Although Rehmanullah remains at large, investigations are ongoing to ensure he faces justice.
This shocking incident highlights the alarming trend of kidnappings over financial disputes, and the swift action taken by the Shigar police is commendable.
The successful recovery of Kabir Ali brings relief to his family and community, but also serves as a reminder of the need for increased vigilance and measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
