ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways (PR) has decided to run two special trains to facilitate the Sikh community in their annual event, here on Friday.
As per the details, the first special train will depart from Karachi on November 12 at 10:30 pm. Additionally, a shuttle train will start its journey from Larkana at midnight and join the Karachi Special train at Rohri station. Pakistan Railways has made this arrangement to ensure easy travel for pilgrims coming from different regions.
The second special train will leave Nankana Sahib on November 16 at 4 pm. A shuttle train will depart from Rohri for Larkana for the return journey.
These special trains have been arranged to provide convenient travel facilities for the accommodation of Sikh pilgrims and to attend the annual religious ceremony at Nankana Sahib.
Similarly, on November 4, Pakistan Railways announced to run a special train from Karachi to Raiwind for the convenience of Tablighi Jamaat participants.
The ministry aims to generate around Rs 8.5 million from the new special service to achieve the revenue target of over Rs 100 billion for the fiscal year (2024-25).
Earlier in September, Pakistan Railways had announced a 50 percent discount on fares for the convenience of special persons traveling in all express and passenger trains.
According to a railway ministry official, this concession will be given on production of computerized national identity card with disabled logo.
He said that 50% discount has also been offered to attendants accompanying visually impaired persons.
