LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched a strategic plan to combat severe smog, and improve air quality causing health problems and disrupting daily life in the provincial capital.A notification issued by the Punjab government has ordered markets in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala to be closed at 8 PM. The order will be effective until November 17 in all four districts.
Other major developments include restricting outdoor activities, including sports and exhibitions, which are banned during this period, and dining in restaurants is prohibited after 8 PM in the four districts.
For major department stores, only grocery and medical sections, and petrol pumps can remain open. Violations will be addressed under the Punjab Environmental Protection Act.
These measures demonstrate the government’s commitment to mitigating the harmful effects of smog and promoting a healthier environment for Punjab residents.
The Punjab Clean Air Action Plan aims to reduce air pollution, particularly from mobile sources.
