The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to file treason cases against Nawaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Asif Zardari, Rana Sanaullah and others in Dera Ismail Khan District.
The decision was made on the instructions of Imran Khan.
According to sources, on August 18, the provincial cabinet exercised its powers under Section 196 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act 5 of 1898 and decided to file treason cases against ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, ex-President Asif Ali Zardari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Rana Sanullah, Captain (Retd) Safdar and others under Sections 108-A, 353-A and 505 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) for giving speeches against the army on various occasions.

In this context, KP Government exercising their power under Section-196 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) Act 5 of 1898 issued a letter to Muneer Ahmad, Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC), D I Khan in which the Provincial Government empowered the AAC D I Khan to receive written complaints from ex-Federal Minister Ali Ameen Khan Gandapur or any other interested party and require local police to lodge FIRs under Sections 108-A, 153-A, 505 Pakistan Penal code (ppc).
