Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has introduced a new gas supply schedule for the winter season, effective November 2024, to ensure full-pressure supply to its over 7.22 million consumers in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other areas of Pakistan.
This revised schedule aims to address the challenges of gas shortage and low pressure faced by consumers during the colder months.
According to SNGPL officials, the new schedule has been implemented in compliance with government directives. The company has reassured consumers that gas will be supplied at full pressure during the specified times across all areas.
The updated gas supply timetable allows consumers to access gas during three specific time slots: 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Time Slot | Gas Schedule |
6:00 AM ā 9:00 AM | For morning meals and heating |
12:00 PM ā 2:00 PM | Supports midday cooking and heating |
6:00 PM ā 9:00 PM | For dinner |
This measure is expected to provide relief to consumers who rely heavily on gas for heating purposes during the winter.
The winter season typically witnesses a significant surge in gas consumption, primarily due to increased heating demands. People rely on gas-powered boilers and heaters to combat the cold weather, leading to higher usage.
Additionally, shorter daylight hours and heat loss from inadequate insulation contribute to increased gas consumption, resulting in a substantial spike during the winter months.
