LAHORE: In a recent development, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Yasmin Rashid, Hammad Azhar, and Omar Sarfraz Cheema.
The warrants were issued, since the PTI Punjab leaders did not show up for the court hearing in the Wazirabad attack case, details added.
Non-bailable arrest warrants have also been issued for other PTI leaders, like as Muhammad Sarfraz, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shakeel Zaman, Amna, Shaneela Ali, and Hamza Altaf.
The Wazirabad SHO has been instructed by the ATC to detain the PTI leaders and testify against them in court.
Additionally, 37 prosecution witnesses have already had their testimony recorded by the court, and on December 11, five medical professionals who treated the injured are expected to appear.
The key suspect, Naveed Meher, was trained, according to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), which was established last year to look into the attack on former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan in Wazirabad.
It is important to note that on November 3, during the party’s lengthy march, Naveed Meher opened fire on Imran Khan, the former premier and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), from the crime scene at Allah Wala Chowk. Meher was thereafter taken into custody.
Earlier on November 7, the gun attack incident’s First Information Report (FIR) was filed. Under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997, a joint investigation team was established to look into the November 3 attack on the PTI leader.
