RAWALPINDI: The ISPR said that the top officers of the Pakistan Army urged the government to implement strict laws to curb fake news and unethical use of freedom of expression.
“General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) chaired the two-day 84th Formation Commanders Conference at GHQ, which was attended by Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and all Formation Commanders of the Pakistan Army,” the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
“The forum began with paying tribute to the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and citizens of Pakistan who sacrificed their lives for the security and sovereignty of the country, including those law enforcement personnel who accepted martyrdom during the recent violent incidents. Protest in Islamabad,” the Pakistan Army’s media wing added.
The forum condemned the ongoing human rights violations in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir by India and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiri people, according to the ISPR.
It expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, strongly condemned the atrocities in Gaza and supported international legal measures to end the military aggression.
The forum conducted a comprehensive analysis of the ongoing counter-terrorism operations and resolved to neutralize the terrorists, their facilitators and encouragers working at the behest of enemy forces to destabilize Pakistan, focusing on operations against terrorists operating inside Balochistan, including the BLA Majeed Brigade.
The forum expressed concern over the propaganda being made after the deployment of Pakistan Army in Islamabad to secure important government buildings during the visit of foreign delegations.
The ISPR added that “this is a pre-planned, coordinated and pre-planned The deliberate propaganda reflects the continuation of a nefarious design by some political elements to create a rift between the people of Pakistan and the armed forces and institutions. This futile attempt fueled and encouraged by external players will never succeed.
The forum urged the government to formulate and implement strict laws and regulations to curb the unethical use of freedom of expression to spread fake news and polarization.
The Pakistan Army demanded that those spreading fake news for their financial interests be brought to justice.
The Formation Commanders Conference resolved that the Pakistan Army is committed to serving the nation and the people and is committed to protecting them from all external and internal threats and any attempt to pit innocent people against each other and use violence as a weapon. Vested interests can never be tolerated.
The conference also expressed concern over the use of Afghan soil by terrorists against Pakistan.
The Forum stressed that it is in the interest of both the neighboring Islamic countries to focus on mutually beneficial engagements and the IAG needs to take concrete steps to prevent the use of its territory by terrorists.
The Forum reiterated its resolve to continue supporting all socio-economic and developmental efforts initiated by the federal and provincial governments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan for the well-being of the resilient people of these provinces who are steadfast against the menace of terrorism.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Army resolved to continue supporting the government’s efforts in promoting economic development, cracking down on the illegal spectrum and dismantling the nexus of terrorism and crime.
At the conclusion of the conference, COAS Asim Munir stressed the importance of professionalism, operational readiness, and the unwavering dedication of the army to ensure the security and stability of Pakistan despite any difficulties and challenges.
