In a move aimed at facilitating the electoral process and ensuring the safety of students, the interim federal government of Pakistan has announced a nine-day holiday for all schools, colleges, and higher educational institutions in Islamabad in light of the upcoming general elections in 2024.
Following the footsteps of Punjab and Sindh provinces, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has declared that educational institutions in the capital will remain closed from February 6 to 9 to accommodate the general elections scheduled for February 8.
A notification issued by the capital administration emphasized the importance of ensuring a conducive environment for the electoral process and acknowledged the significance of providing ample time for students, teachers, and staff to participate in the democratic exercise.

The school holidays coincide with the general elections and include the weekend days of February 3-4, as well as Kashmir Day on February 5. This extended break will allow for uninterrupted voting activities and ensure minimal disruption to the educational calendar.
After the nine-day closure, schools are scheduled to reopen on February 12, resuming normal educational activities. Both private and government schools are mandated to adhere to this directive, contributing to a unified approach in facilitating the electoral process while prioritizing the safety and well-being of students.
