KARACHI: After a protracted injury, Pakistani fast bowler Naseem Shah has returned to action. He was spotted bowling in the Spartan Premier League, a local white-ball competition. As soon as Naseem took the field for the local league games, he became the talk of the town.
He was the first bowler to get into the game, but his first few deliveries were not very precise, including a wide ball that was mishandled by the wicketkeeper and went for a boundary. But Naseem established his length and line quite fast. On his fourth ball, he threw a short delivery, which caused the batsman’s top edge to end up in the wicketkeeper’s hands. A jubilant Naseem leaped in celebration.
The next batter had trouble against Naseem as well. The right-arm fast bowler’s well-placed delivery was straight to a diving second slip fielder, who picked off two of Naseem’s deliveries in a row.

The quick-witted right-arm spinner claimed two wickets in this period and ended up costing a little of money as he concluded with 30 runs and two wickets in 3 overs. The 20-year-old had not participated in a game since September 2023, when he was forced off the pitch due to a right shoulder injury sustained during Pakistan’s Asia Cup Super 4 encounter against India.
