ECP completes training of staff for General Elections 2024

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the completion of training for approximately 1.49 million election staff in preparation for the upcoming general elections in 2024. The training sessions, conducted over 87 days in remote areas nationwide, involved 3,821 master trainers and aimed to ensure the proficiency and professionalism of election personnel.

The training included sessions for District Returning Officers (DROs), Returning Officers (ROs), polling staff, Presiding Officers, Senior Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Polling Officers, Regional Monitoring Coordinators (RMCs), District Monitoring Officers (DMOs), Monitoring Officers (MOs), officers and data entry operators (DEOs) linked with returning officers, and security personnel.

Additionally, the ECP has established 90,675 polling stations across all four provinces, with over 120 million registered voters expected to cast their votes for the National Assembly and four Provincial Assemblies. A total of 5,121 candidates, including 4,807 male, 312 female, and two transgenders, are contesting for the National Assembly and provincial assembly seats. The elections will be held on 266 general seats of the National Assembly and 593 general seats of the four provincial assemblies.
