Pakistan Navy saves Nine Crew Members of Stranded Indian Tug

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) salvaged nine crew men of an Indian vessel that was crippled in the Arabian Sea in a very touching act.

Due to an electric generator failure, the tug Ocean Tug SAS-5 was rendered inoperable for a few days off the coast of India, close to the port city of Karachi.

The Pakistan Navy saved the lives of Indian sailors in spite of the rising border tensions. According to the statement, the ship, which sailed to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 1st, had sent out a distress signal to the Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Center (JMICC). The Pakistan Navy then launched a search and rescue mission to help the ship that had become trapped.

Pakistan Maritime Security Ship (PMSS) KASHMIR, which was deployed on routine Maritime Security Operations in the vicinity, conducted a Search and Rescue mission after PN Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft was first tasked with locating the tug at sea, according to the Pakistan Navy.

It stated that PMSS KASHMIR was utilized by the naval troops and that the flaw was fixed following three hours of intensive work. The crew was provided with meals, clean water, and medical facilities by the Navy, and the tug was able to resume its journey towards Sharjah.

The Pakistan Navy stated that in addition to maintaining its combat preparedness at all times, it is alert to help ensure the protection of lives at sea by maintaining a continuous presence and monitoring of activities.

This happened just one week after the Indian navy ordered the safe release of the 19 Pakistani crew members and the fishing boat Al Naeemi, which was flying the Iranian flag.
