PESHAWAR: After Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won a landslide victory in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elections in 2024, everyone is wondering who will be the next chief minister of this northwest area of the country.
The scenario is different in 2024 as the PTI replicates its victory from 2018, with new figures emerging and prominent provincial leaders distancing themselves from Imran Khan. There is a lot of conjecture on possible candidates for the chief minister post in the province’s upcoming term when the election dust settles.

A number of names have emerged as possible candidates for the desired position. Ali Amin Gandapur, former speaker Mushtaq Ghani, former minister Atif Khan, and Shakeel Khan are the people most likely to take control of KP. There are a few other names that are being explored.
In the meanwhile, no formal meetings have been called by the party to select a candidate for the KP CM position. Imran Khan, the chief minister nominee, will ultimately decide. He has been imprisoned since August of last year.

For PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where they won the most seats despite fielding independent candidates, choosing the chief minister will be vital. There are multiple factions vying for influence, so it’s hard to predict who will get Imran Khan’s approval in the end for the desired position.
