Security forces have killed 10 terrorists, including a female attacker, during clearance operations following attempted terrorist activities in Gwadar district on October 22, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on October 23.
The military’s media wing said the attempted attacks targeted areas around the Gabd Border Crossing and Gwadar city. Security personnel launched operations in and around the city to counter the threat and prevent further violence.
According to the statement, separate engagements resulted in the deaths of 10 terrorists. One civilian lost his life during the incidents, while several vehicles sustained damage. The clearance operations were subsequently completed, and normal conditions were restored in the affected areas.
ISPR said the security forces suffered no casualties during the operations. The military described the response as successful in preventing the attackers from achieving their objectives, although the civilian death highlighted the risks faced by people living and working in areas affected by militant violence.
The statement also raised concerns about the reported involvement of a Baloch woman in the attempted attack. ISPR alleged that she had been coerced into participating, describing the use of coercion against a woman in this manner as a crime against the state and an affront to the honour of Baloch women.
The military’s account attributed the terrorist activities to what it called India-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan. This characterisation represents the official position presented in the ISPR statement.
Gwadar, an important coastal district in Balochistan, has strategic and economic significance. Security incidents in the region can affect local communities, commercial activity and efforts to maintain stability.
ISPR reiterated that counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative would continue at full pace. The statement signalled that security agencies intend to sustain pressure on militant networks as they work to prevent further attacks.
The developments reported on October 23 concern the attempted attacks of October 22. They should not be interpreted as evidence of a new attack on October 24.
