ISLAMABAD: The Research Ruet-e-Hilal Council has made an important announcement regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon, which will mark the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.
As per the details, the council said that the sighting of the Shawwal moon will be at 3:58 pm today, Saturday. The moon will be more than 26 hours old at sunset on Sunday, it added, adding that the difference between sunset and moonrise will be between 69 and 78 minutes.
The difference between sunset and moonrise in Karachi is 69 minutes, in Gwadar 71 minutes, in Quetta and Lahore 74 minutes, while in Gilgit-Baltistan there will be a difference of 78 minutes. There is a strong possibility that Eid-ul-Fitr will be on March 31 across Pakistan.
However, the final announcement will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting update
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet tomorrow, March 30, in Islamabad to sight the moon of Shawwal 1446 AH.
Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad will preside over the meeting. Separate meetings of the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will also be held at their respective headquarters to sight the moon of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 Holidays
The federal government has issued a notification of holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025. According to the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 will be from Monday (March 31) to April 2. Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 will be celebrated across Pakistan on Monday, March 31, 2025, after the completion of 29 days of Ramadan.
