ISLAMABAD: Chinese telecom giant Huawei, in collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), has announced a plan to provide IT training to 300,000 Pakistanis.
Huawei’s training program will teach 60,000 Pakistanis advanced IT skills, while 240,000 participants will be trained in basic IT. The initiative will further strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, increase IT exports and create new employment opportunities.
Equipping the youth with advanced technical skills is a top priority for the government. Huawei and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) will introduce cutting-edge IT courses in 15 universities across the country. SIFC is playing a key role in attracting investment and promoting growth in the telecom sector.
Experts believe that this project will prove to be a milestone in taking the Pakistani economy towards digital development.
Last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review an initiative to train 300,000 Pakistani youth in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in collaboration with Huawei Technologies. Stressing the crucial role of youth in advancing the digital revolution and technology in the country, he reiterated the government’s commitment to equipping the youth with modern skills.
