ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, Hammad Azhar, the acting president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has stepped down from his position for the third time, citing allegations made by Azam Swati.
Azhar announced his decision on his X account, stating that he was resigning for the “final” time.
According to Azhar, Azam Swati informed Imran Khan that Alia Hamza was being obstructed from working, and when Khan asked for details, Swati mentioned Azhar’s name.
However, when Azhar reached out to Alia Hamza, she clarified that there were no obstructions, leading Azhar to step down. He stated that resigning from all positions was the easiest solution for him.
Azhar noted that his resignations have not been accepted in the past, but this time, his decision is irrevocable. He added that he had already handed over his powers to the four regional presidents in June 2024, and the organization of his constituency was done without his consent.
Although Azhar is stepping down as acting president, he will continue to be associated with the party as a worker and serve his leader in the future.
