PESHAWAR: Terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) claimed the lives of 152 people, including police officers, security personnel and civilians, during the first quarter of 2025.
A total of 302 people were also injured in these incidents, according to a quarterly report released by the KP Police.
The report highlighted that civilians were the target of violence between January and March, with 45 people killed and 127 injured.
The police force lost 37 personnel, while 46 were injured. Additionally, the Frontier Corps (FC) suffered losses of 34 personnel and 43 others were injured.
The increase in violence underscores the ongoing security challenges in the province, which has seen a resurgence in militant activity in recent months. Authorities are stepping up counter-terrorism efforts to stem the wave of attacks.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that earlier, eleven Khawarij were killed during IBOs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“On 26-27 March 2025, eleven Khawarij were killed by security forces in four separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province,” the ISPR said.
The security forces conducted an operation in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan on intelligence input.
During the operation, the forces effectively targeted the Khawarij location, resulting in the killing of five Khawarij.
In a second operation in the same general area, three more Khawarij were successfully neutralized by the forces.
