RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police have implemented “foolproof” security measures, including the deployment of 5,000 officers, in advance of the HBL Pakistan Super League X, which begins today at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium said by police spokeperson.
The HBL PSL X 2025 will begin with a magnificent opening ceremony before Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars face off. The six-team competition will consist of 34 matches played between April 11 and May 18.
The security plans were developed in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies. In addition, special police teams such as the Dolphin force and Elite Force troops, as well as more than 376 traffic police officers, have been positioned across the stadium.
The arrangements will be monitored by Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa, City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani, and other top personnel.
Spectators would only be able to enter through a walk-through gate following a full-body search. Other security measures include a separate control room that monitors the stadium as well as the rest of the city using Safe City and other CCTV cameras.
The Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP), Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, presided over a key meeting on Thursday to evaluate security measures, during which he stated that players will have tight security at their hotels.
Bomb disposal squad will rigorously inspect all routes and monitor them via security cameras. The IGP further stated that Safe City smart cars, mobile jammers, and surveillance vehicles will be deployed in the convoy to increase security and guarantee effective monitoring.
The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host eleven matches, including the qualifier on May 13. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host 13 matches, while Karachi’s National Bank Stadium will host 11.
