ISLAMABAD: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), temperatures will rise in the majority of the nation’s cities beginning today, April 13. According to PMD, there is also a chance of a heatwave this week through Friday.
The heatwave alert predicts that daytime temperatures in some Pakistani cities will be 6 to 8 degrees Celsius higher than usual.
Depending on the location, Islamabad and the neighboring areas will have hot, dry weather with temperatures between four and six degrees above average.
Similarly, the weather in central and upper Punjab will be comparable. PMD forecasts dry weather with extreme heat for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which may also result in gusts and winds because of the heatwave.
Beginning tomorrow, scorching weather is also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
The highest recorded temperatures were 43 degrees Celsius yesterday (Saturday) in Dadu, Hyderabad, and Nawabshah. The temperature was 39 degrees in Karachi, 37 in DI Khan, 35 in Lahore and Peshawar, and 33 in Islamabad.
Additionally, private weather specialists forecasted on Friday that Karachi would receive more rainfall than normal this summer.
To mitigate the negative effects of rising temperatures, residents are encouraged to avoid needless travel in the afternoons and to drink enough water.
