ISLAMABAD: In a rare show of unity, the National Assembly passed a unanimous resolution expressing unwavering solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine amid the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza.
The session, chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, saw all parliamentary parties – from both the government and the opposition – come together to condemn what they termed “criminal Israeli crimes” against innocent Palestinians.
The resolution, presented by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, strongly condemned Israel’s continued military operations in Gaza and highlighted that more than 1,600 Palestinians have been martyred since the fresh wave of aggression began on March 18.
“The House expresses its full solidarity with its Palestinian brothers and sisters and strongly condemns the silence of the international community,” the resolution said.
Among its main demands, the National Assembly resolution stated:
- Immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza
- Recognition of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations
- Strong action by the international community to end the violence
The session was later adjourned indefinitely.
