ISLAMABAD: In the eighth match of the Women’s World Cup Qualifier, the Pakistan Women’s team defeated the West Indies by 65 runs.
Chasing a target of 192 runs, the entire West Indies team returned to the pavilion for 126 runs in the 40th over.
Alia Alina 22 and Shabika Gajnabi stood out for the West Indies by scoring 21 runs, Genelia Glasgow 18 and Shameen Campbell 14 runs.
For Pakistan, Fatima Sana took 3 wickets, Rameen Shamim and Nashra Sindhu took two wickets each.
Earlier, in the match held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the captain of the Pakistan Women’s team won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the national women’s team was bowled out for 191 runs in the last over.
Sidra Amin and Muniba Ali were the top scorers for Pakistan with 54 and 33 runs, Sidra Nawaz scored 23 and Alia Riaz scored 20 runs.
For the West Indies, Hayley Mathews, Effie Fletcher and Karishma Ra Mehra took 2 wickets each, while Ashmani Munesar and Alia Alina took one wicket each.
