Man arrested for campaigning against CJP Qazi Faez Isa on social media


Authorities have arrested the accused who ran a threatening social media campaign against Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa on social media from Rawalpidni on Thursday (today).

According to the sources, a person named Abdul Wassay, a resident of Pandora Rawalpindi launched a campaign on February 20. The accused threatened the Chief Justice on the social media platform and the Character assassination of CJP Qazi Faez Isa.

As per sources privy to the development, the process of identifying the remaining people is going on. After the identification of the involved persons, strict legal action will be taken against them.

It should be noted that last month, the caretaker federal cabinet approved the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) against social media campaigners behind a malicious campaign against Supreme Court judges.

After the Jan 13 judgment, a smear campaign had erupted on social media against top court judges. The JIT was formed under Section 30 (power to investigate) of the controversial Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) 2016.
