Lahore: A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, was held to discuss matters pertaining to peace and security, during which unelected Chief Minister of Punjab was briefed on the security situation in the province by senior officials.
The Chief Minister took serious note of the incident of elderly women being slapped in Taxila. She emphasized that those who are responsible for enforcing the law should not break it, as it undermines the respect for law itself.
She stated that while maintaining peace and security is imperative, safeguarding the dignity of citizens and protecting them from humiliation is equally crucial. She urged for the respect of both the law and the dignity of individuals to be ensured, emphasizing that law enforcement agencies must serve the public with integrity, reforms, modern tools, technology, and training will transform the police into a public service force.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that violence against women, children, and minorities is a red line for her government, and a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and nepotism will be maintained without any compromise. She also announced immediate inclusion of FIRs in accordance with the law, and further improvement in the use of digital and IT systems, and eradication of flaws in the prosecution system.

A briefing was also given by the Inspector General of Police Punjab on the peace and security situation in the province. The meeting was attended by senior officials including the Advocate General of Punjab. Maryam Nawaz Sharif issued policy directives regarding safe Punjab.
