PSL-9: Islamabad United Defeats Karachi Kings by 7 Wickets


Karachi: Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by 7 wickets in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The match played in Karachi saw Islamabad United’s captain Shadab Khan winning the toss and inviting Karachi Kings to bat first. Karachi Kings scored 165 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, with Kirron Pollard scoring 48 off 28 balls and Irfan Khan Niazi contributing 27 off 22 balls. Additionally, Shan Masood scored 27 runs and Lewis Gregory scored 24 runs before being dismissed.

Tom Sefort scored 8, while Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Nawaz managed to score 6 runs each. On the Islamabad United side, Imad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Agha Salman, and Haneen Shah each took one wicket.

In pursuit of Karachi Kings’ target of 166 runs, Islamabad United easily achieved the target in the 19th over with a loss of 3 wickets. From Islamabad’s side, opener Colin Munro played a brilliant inning of 82 runs and Alex Hales scored 47 runs. However, Imad Wasim was dismissed for a duck, while Agha Salman scored 25 and Shadab Khan scored 10 runs before being dismissed. From Karachi Kings’ side, Hassan Ali, Tabish Shamsi, and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket each.

It is evident that two changes were made to Islamabad United’s team for this match, with the return of Alex Hales and Roman Raees to the team. On the other hand, Karachi Kings made three changes to their team, with Tom Seifert, Du Plooy, and Amir Khan replacing James Vince, Mohammad Akhlaq, and Daniel Sams. It is noteworthy that Karachi Kings’ James Vince and Daniel Sams were not part of the playing XI due to stomach ailments.
