Election 2024: ECP summons Nawaz Sharif in rigging case

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned PML-N Supremo Nawaz Sharif on a petition filed by Yasmin Rashid against Nawaz Sharif’s victory from NA-130 on Tuesday.

The lawyer of PTI-backed independent candidate from NA-130 Lahore, Yasmin Rashid said that at 10:30 pm, the police officer entered RO’s office, at that time Form 47 was being compiled.

The lawyer said that they kicked out our polling agent and changed the returning officer at night. The lawyer in the election commission said that the result was prepared from the new RO. According to form 45 Yasmin Rashid was winning by 20 thousand votes, he added.

PTI leader Yasmin Rashid’s lawyer argued that Yasmin Rashid was winning the polls but 101,000 votes were given to Nawaz Sharif from 33 polling stations in a case of huge rigging.

ECP sought a report from the returning officer and the hearing of the case was adjourned till February 27.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto is up against PTI-backed Abbas Khokhar and PML-N’s Atta Tarar in NA-127, Lahore.

NA-264, Quetta: Mir Jamal Khan Raisani of the PPP is running against Akhtar Mengal, the leader of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M).

NA-266 Kila Abdullah-cum-Chaman: Maulana Salahuddin of the JUI-F is running against Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the leader of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).

NA-248, Karachi: Arsalan Khalid, sponsored by the PTI, is running against Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, the convener of the Rabita Committee of the Muttanida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

NA-33, Nowshera: PTI-Parliamentarian chief and former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak, is running against independent Akhtar Wali Khan and PTI-backed Shah Wahid Ali Shah.

NA-56, Rawalpindi: Hanif Abbasi of the PML-N is running against Sheikh Rasheed of the Awami Muslim League (AML).

NA-207, Nawabshah: PTI-backed Sher Muhammad Baloch is running against PPP’s former president Asif Zardari.

NA-123, Lahore: Afzal Azim, backed by the PTI, and Liaquat Baloch of the JI are the opponents of former prime minister Shahbaz Sharif of the PML-N.

NA-48, Multan: Ahmed Hasan Dehar of the PML-N is up against PPP’s former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.

PML-N Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz is running in NA-119, Lahore, against Shahzad Farooq, who is supported by the PTI.

NA-118 Lahore: Alia Hamza, supported by the PTI, is running against former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shehbaz.
