Six Independent Candidates from Punjab Pledge Allegiance to PML-N

LAHORE: In a significant political development, six independent candidates who secured victories in Punjab Assembly seats during the 2024 General Elections have announced their decision to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The declaration came during a meeting with the PML-N’s Chief Organizer, Maryam Nawaz, held in Lahore on Wednesday.

The newly-elected members, including Sultan Bajwa from PP-132 Nankana, Shazia Tareen from PP-225 Lodhran, Mahmood Qadir Laghari from PP-289 Dera Ghazi Khan, Hanif Pitafi from PP-288 Dera Ghazi Khan, Taimoor Ali from PP-94 Chiniot, and Ali Asghar from PP-283 Layyah, expressed their intention to align with the PML-N, citing their unwavering trust in Nawaz Sharif and confidence in the party’s leadership.

Welcoming the independent candidates into the PML-N fold, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that their inclusion would bolster the party’s endeavors to enhance the prosperity of Punjab’s populace. She reaffirmed the party’s dedication to overcoming past challenges and ensuring a promising future for the people.

This development follows a similar trend observed earlier this week, as five victorious independent candidates from the February 8 elections also pledged their allegiance to the PML-N. Notable among them were Sardar Shamsher Mazari, who secured the NA-189 seat, and Imran Akram, victorious in PP-195. Additionally, Sohail Khan from PP-240, Khizar Hussain Mazari from PP-297, and Sahibzada Muhammad Gazain Abbasi from PP-249 also joined the PML-N ranks after meeting with the party’s president, Shehbaz Sharif.

With these additions, the PML-N continues to solidify its presence in Punjab, furthering its vision of inclusive governance and commitment to serving the interests of the people.
